GREAT TASTING: Chef Larry Thum, (second from right) of the Dining Car Restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia showcases his special beef barley soup in preparation for the fifth annual Hail To The Chefs event benefiting the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Foundation to be held at Knowlton Mansion, 8001 Verree Road, also in Northeast on Monday, April 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. The public is invited.

Sharing the tasting are Nancy Morozin, co-owner of the Dining Car (left) Andrew Stein, allied brand manager for Muller, Inc, also of Northeast, (second from left) a major sponsor and Rose McMenamin (right) founder and chairman of the GNPCC Scholarship Foundation. In addition to a myriad of fabulous culinary creations, fine wines and beers, this year’s event will feature a plethora of delicious desserts from more than a dozen restaurants in Philadelphia and Bucks counties. Tickets are $42 per person and $80 per couple and may be purchased online with a credit card at www.gnpccfooundation.org or at the Dining Car Restaurant at 8826 Frankford Avenue or from the GNPCC Foundation C/O Joe Healey, 3rd Fed Bank, 2601 Orthodox Street, Philadelphia, PA 19137. The GNPCC Foundation raises funds for scholarships for individuals residing in the area of theGreater Northeast Chamber of Commerce. To date the foundation has awarded 45 individual $1000 scholarships and hopes to award 10 more this year at its annual awards dinner on June 20.
